Artemis hires Jasper Berens as Dick Turpin retires

Jasper Berens will join Artemis Investment Management in October as Head of Distribution, taking over from Dick Turpin when he retires.

Turpin’s career in fund management began over 25 years ago when he joined Merrill Lynch. He also held positions at Aetna and Barings before moving to ABN Amro Asset Management in March 1998. He was later appointed Managing Director of ABN Amro Fund Managers, which subsequently became part of Artemis in September 2002.

Mark Murray, Artemis’ Senior Partner said: “Dick Turpin’s contributions both to Artemis and to our industry have been enormous. Dick has been integral to helping build Artemis into the firm it is today. We wish him a very long and happy retirement, after almost 30 years in fund management.”

Berens spent 20 years at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, leaving his position of Head of UK Funds in March.

Regarding Berens’ appointment, Murray stated: “We are delighted to have been able to recruit someone of Jasper’s standing and ability. We are all looking forward to working with him over the years ahead as we continue to concentrate on meeting our clients’ needs.”
